Hello Words!
Guy Kawasaki defines a blogger as “Someone with nothing to say writing for someone with nothing to do.”
While I admit to spending a fair amount of time reading blogs when I have nothing to do (see the blogroll in the sidebar for a sampling of them), I promise never to assume that you, gentle reader, have nothing better to do. I plan use this space to write about things that interest me and about which I have at least a passing familiarity–mostly software development and writing. Of course, no blog would be complete without the occasional rant, so you will probably see some customer service and political posts along the way.
I thought I would kick things off with a piece I wrote more than 10 years ago when I was working on Project Reality, the Nintendo/SGI joint venture that produced the Nintendo 64. This project was among the most rewarding of my career to date, and an example of how things can go very right in the development process–a theme I will be returning to on this blog.
Welcome to steveshepard.com. I look forward to hearing from you in the comments.
